We have worked on heritage projects across Europe, recording everything from abandoned copper mines on the South coast of Ireland to 16th Century farmhouses in the Dolomites. In the UK, we have carried out surveys on behalf of various heritage trusts and authorities including the RCAHMW, National Trust for Scotland and English Heritage. More recently, we have worked with our associates at Archaeodomus, combining their drone flown photogrammetry service with our laser scanning to fully capture various sites across Wales. Coming from an engineering survey background, we pride ourselves on the provision of accurate survey control, ensuring that scan data is more than a 3D photograph. Benefits of our survey and laser scanning services for heritage work include:
- Provision of hard point site control networks surveyed using total station and tied to OSGB or similar grid using RTK GPS surveyed points.
- Fast, accurate recording of complex sites
- Full colour recording using separate panoramic camera.
- Scan data in formats suitable for input to most Architectural CAD systems
- Panoramic tour of the sites alongside the scan data – useful for site orientation, client discussion and online virtual tours.
- Ability to integrate with other survey disciplines to provide coverage – drone flown photogrammetry and laser scanning provides cover from underground to roof.
- Accurate recording – stone level drawing from scan data.
